Liberty’s Cole Packingham Swings into Top Five at State Championships

Liberty High School sophomore Cole Packingham put on a stellar performance in the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 5 Boys Golf State Championships at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield, Mo., which wrapped up on May 14. Packingham secured back-to-back First Team All-State Honors with his fifth-place finish at the championships.

Packingham's success comes after an impressive season where he consistently placed within the top five in five competitions, including a dominant first-place finish at Districts. He carried this momentum into the State Championships, carding impressive rounds of 72-69.

Liberty junior Dylan Handlan also achieved his goal of reaching the state championships this year. His dedication to improvement shone through as he carded rounds of 81-81.

Holt High School junior Boston Howard journeyed to the Dalhousie Golf Club for the Class 4 MSHSAA State Championship, where he shot consistent rounds of 87-82, securing a respectable 50th-place finish. The highlight of his tournament came on day two, where he drained his first birdie of the competition on hole 17.

Timberland High School junior Lucas Lafferty also competed in the Class 5 division. Lafferty's scores of 79-80 landed him in a tie for 70th place.
