WSD Holds 24th Annual Turkey Trot
A Wentzville tradition continued on October 29 when approximately 200 students from the Wentzville School District ran in the 24th Annual Turkey Trot. The event occurred at Holt High School, and was organized by the Holt Cross Country team and the Wentzville/Lake Saint Louis Optimist Club.
Open to boys and girls in Grades 4 through 6, students from ten WSD elementary schools competed this year. Winners in each division were awarded a medal and a frozen turkey to take home for Thanksgiving.
For the fifth consecutive year, a traveling team trophy was presented to Discovery Ridge Elementary, whose top three runners in each of the boys and girls divisions had the lowest combined score. For complete race results, visit the WSD website.
The champions in each division were:
Fourth Grade Boys: Jackson Brinton from Green Tree Elementary with a time of 6:54
Fourth Grade Girls: Allison Keller from Lakeview Elementary with a time of 7:30
Fifth Grade Boys: Tyler Kmetz from Peine Ridge Elementary with a time of 6:57
Fifth Grade Girls: Reece Hoffman from Duello Elementary with a time of 7:24
Sixth Grade Boys: Carson Struttmann from Discovery Ridge Elementary with a time of 6:21
Sixth Grade Girls: Nora Swisher from Boone Trail Elementary with a time of 6:48
